1. Replace catch

The catch can definitely be exchanged for a universal catch. The exact type from the manufacturer is not necessarily required for this. There are only two screws that secure the catch.

2. Adjust the balcony door

In the fold and on the hinges of the balcony door there are set screws that can be turned with either a screwdriver or an Allen key. First check where the door is hanging or striking and, if necessary, have a second person help you.

3. Renew the tilt fitting

Replacing the tilt fitting is a little more difficult than the first two tasks. Above all, any other fitting cannot be used here. Universal fittings do not fit into every door and do not work with every system.

Identify manufacturer

If there are still old invoices, the exact name of the door may even be found on them. Usually, however, the manufacturer's name is written somewhere in the door frame or on the fitting. With a little luck, you can order the right turn / tilt fitting there.

Photos and mass

If the manufacturer is not available, you should take photos of the fitting and measure it very precisely. You should also take photos of the individual stops. Thick catalogs with fittings can be found in many hardware stores or at window manufacturers. It may take a while to get the part, but the chances of success are not bad.

Replace the tilt fitting

You absolutely need a second person if you want to exchange the fitting. The door falls off its hinges as soon as the old fitting is removed and you cannot do both, hold the door and fumble the new fitting into its position.
