Plastic is a good alternative here - it is light, very durable, and permanently impermeable - much longer than a conventional bitumen covering. This applies in particular to roofing foils made from EPDM (Ethylene-Polypropylene-Diene-Monomer).

According to experts, the lifespan of this special membrane for roofing can easily be more than 50 years - so bitumen sheeting cannot keep up with that.

Important when laying

  • wear work gloves if possible
  • ensure that you have adequate fall protection when working
  • Lay the film only on a clean, dry and completely swept-clean roof without any old tar paper residues - this is fundamentally important!

EPDM roof membrane - installation instructions

  • Roofing membrane
  • Glue
  • Glue roll
  • Cutter or scissors
  • Street broom

1. Lay out the foil

The film, roughly cut to the correct size, should first be placed loosely on the cleaned roof. The supernatants are then cut to about 15 cm.

2. Let foil rest

Before they can be glued, the film must necessarily be at least 30 minutes "rest " so that you can move back after adjustment. This is important for the later durability

3. Bonding

The film is knocked back around half, the substrate then thinly and evenly coated with glue. Use the best to use an adhesive role.

Thereafter, the backed half is placed in the adhesive and smoothed with the street brush. All wrinkles should be removed. Then proceed with the other half until the entire film is firmly glued on the roof.

4. Optional: Kantenfinish

If you want a beautiful edge, you can still handle them with strips, profiles or the like.

Tips & Tricks always pay attention to the processing instructions for the glue. Depending on the manufacturer, there may be differences here.
