Prefabricated concrete (15,69 € at Amazon *) is that concrete you can buy in the building materials trading or in the hardware storey mixed in sacks. He just has to be mixed with the right amount of water, and then is ready to use. If the correct amount of water is used, the manufacturer guarantees the strength and properties of the concrete.

Fresh concrete is either concrete freshly mixed on the construction site. The composition of the concrete depends on the intended use. The mixing ratio can be adjusted individually.

Ready-mixed concrete is concrete produced in the concrete plant that is delivered via a mixer vehicle. As a rule, these transport vehicles also contain devices with which you can pump the concrete directly to the installation site via a pipe, for example when pouring a floor slab. The concrete manufacturer guarantees the quality and integrity of the concrete, unless other substances are added at the customer's request - for example when delivering steel fiber concrete.

Differences in quality

With ready-mixed concrete, you can always assume that the concrete manufacturer will ensure perfect quality - after all, he is contractually liable for it. The concrete meets all the requirements stipulated by DIN, the recipes are precisely adhered to, and the concrete quality is checked.

In the case of precast concrete, the addition of water is particularly problematic. If you change the so-called water-cement ratio of concrete, i.e. the ratio between water and cement, the strength of the concrete also changes. Certain other properties also change with the water-cement ratio. Testing the concrete for its properties or its mixing ratio is only possible to a limited extent - however, experts often recognize during processing when the concrete has too much or too little water. Mixing must also be done in the right way with precast concrete.

For fresh concrete, which one makes itself on the construction site, this is even more problematic, since the mixing ratio usually is not completely accurate, and the so-called mashing water can only be added after coarse estimates. It is also important that the concrete when it is produced in the mixing machine gradually has a consistent quality, but may be different. That too can represent a problem. In addition, certain aggregates are missing as they are included in pre-concrete or in the ready-mixed concrete. They often improve the properties and processability of the concrete significantly.

Cost differences

For large concrete requirements and sufficient workers on the construction site, ready-mix concrete is almost always the cheapest solution. In many cases, it is also the most technically most appropriate, for example when a bottom plate is to be concrete. Continuous concreting without interruption can definitely be decisive for the quality of the floor slab.

Mixing fresh concrete yourself is usually only worthwhile in terms of price if small quantities are required. Ready-mixed concrete, on the other hand, has some advantages, with mostly the same costs:
