Only about a third of the vacancies end up in job advertisements. Among other things, this was the result of a study by the Institute for Labor Market Research at the Federal Employment Agency. If you apply proactively, you have a chance to get one of these positions in the so-called hidden job market.
Even if there is still no vacancy to be filled. Particularly good imitative applications make a company sometimes attentive at which point optimization potential. Maybe you even deliver a great suggestion or ability that the company could use exactly now?
Another advantage: You have no competition! For job advertisements, you are not the only applicants. An initative application, on the other hand, competes at most with other unsolicited applications - but that they are aimed at the same department is unlikely.

You can simply focus on your advantages, write down, in which area want to work and why you can do that. To formulate your unsolicited application in such a way that the HR manager thinks: "We absolutely have to get to know them!"you should try to find a gap in the company that you want to apply for. If you are a web designer, the company's website looks terrible? Or have you heard that a new department is about to be opened for which the company is probably looking for employees?
If you do not find such a gap, it can help to adapt your application to a job description you have created yourself. Of course, you should be sure, or at least strongly suspect, that there is a need for such a position in the company.
It can help to simply read similar job advertisements from other companies. Make a note of the requirements and formulate your cover letter in such a way that the recipient realizes that you are made for such a position - even if the position has yet to be created.

A tip is not to even write in the subject line that it is an unsolicited application. Simply apply specifically for a specific department or even a specific profession such as "office clerk ".
What is always important when applying: Avoid empty phrases and individualize your cover letter in such a way that the HR manager feels: "She wants to work for us ". If, on the other hand, you write a sample application that you could send to 20 other companies, you probably don't have a chance.
