Renovation fleece meets the modern living trend towards smooth walls. In many buildings the walls are slightly uneven. In addition, there are hairline cracks in the plaster, butt joints and other visually noticeable impairments. With a renovation fleece of the right thickness, a lot can be achieved without smoothing and filling.
More compensation possible than most expected
Renovation fleece is a very rewarding and frugal material. The mixture of textile fibers and cellulose is permeable and dimensionally stable. It is easy to glue and generously compensates for unevenness by bridging it. The thicker the fleece thickness is chosen, the better unfavorable substrates are concealed.

Wallpapers with light and weak structures such as woodchip can be pasted over with renovation fleece without any further preparation. Height and level differences of up to several millimeters can be covered and compensated. Renovation fleece is also known as waste or painter's fleece. You can choose between five standard material thicknesses for the different requirements and types of use.
Properties through grammages
The thinnest grammages available start at sixty grams and the thickest 160 grams. This value describes the weight of the renovation fleece per square meter. Common grammages offer the following properties and possible uses .
Inexpensive version, is less suitable for leveling out unevenness and is primarily used as an undercover for stable and thicker types of wallpaper
Most frequently chosen standard for "normal" unevenness and on plasterboard and other drywall, including wood. Sufficient as a leveler for metal wallpapers in bronze, gold and silver tones.
130 and 150 grams
Compensates for woodchip wallpaper and other textured wallpapers with light reliefs with depths of up to two millimeters. Relieves tension in sensitive and thick paints and wallpapers.
Suitable for wallpapering heavy metal and textile wallpapers. Compensates structural unevenness such as leveled surfaces. Is a safe surface for photo wallpaper, plastering and filling.
When choosing the grammage for use as an under-wallpaper, the material thickness of the wallpaper should be taken into account. Thicker renovation fleece or waste is always possible, thinner ones should be avoided.
Special types of use
In some cases, decades-old layers of wallpaper can hardly be completely removed from a wall or the plaster is permanently damaged. In this case, the renovation fleece can be the most ideal solution. Old, firmly adhering scraps of wallpaper seldom reach more than a millimeter at the edges of the crack, which a renovation fleece from 120 grams can easily compensate for.
Masonry with joints can be painted or wallpapered much more safely after the joints have been filled, if a renovation fleece is used. At the same time, the application prevents unevenness from occurring later due to different substrate materials (joint filler and stone surfaces).Tips & Tricks With your choice of color when painting the renovation fleece, you can also influence the visibility of unevenness. Lighter colors usually hide better. Gradients and ombré distract the eye from the unevenness just like wall tattoos and geometric patterns.
