Tile dry screed correctly

Mainly in bathrooms, but also in other rooms, there is a need to tile a dry screed construction. In principle, this is possible without any problems if it has been ensured beforehand that the load-bearing capacity of the screed construction is sufficient - this is not the case with all dry screeds. Normally no problem is to be expected up to a tile size of 30 x 30 centimeters - if the tiles are larger, however, you should ask a specialist dealer whether the screed construction needs to be reinforced.

Important: coordination of seal and tile adhesive

If the screed elements are protected with a special sealing compound (€ 11.72 at Amazon *), it is important to ensure that the tile adhesive used is also compatible with this sealing compound and does not lose its adhesive strength. Without sealing compound, only tile adhesive that has been specifically identified as suitable for dry screed (€ 33.00 on Amazon *) may be used. In principle, only products that really fit together should be used here. The sealing of the joints in particular must be carried out neatly; it is best to use joint sealing tapes here.

If necessary: compact the bed, increase the bed

If heavier or larger tiles, such as porcelain stoneware, are to be laid, a suitable (cement-bound) fill should always be laid. The fill height should be increased a little and the fill should also be compacted if necessary. It is important here that beds in the built-in state must always be compact and not loosely - this rule is all the more if tiled on the dry rich thereafter. A decoupling usually does not apply in practice, in most cases, in the border range, higher sealing material, higher compaction and larger amount of lining. Notwithstanding the advice, which one should find all the tours, in terms of weight and tile size, in any case, the manufacturer's indications are met, since in case of damage can only be reclaimed. Coating heights of in the screed or in the bed - extending pipes must be maintained in any case necessarily.
